Directory of Nonviolence Trainers

Click the link at the bottom to find a list of Nonviolence Trainers registered with The Declaration of Peace.

Because Trainers come from different backgrounds, and because groups requesting training have varying needs, we strongly encourage organizers and trainers to mutually interview each other prior to the training. We encourage trainers to work in teams of 2 where possible.

Questions for trainers and organizers to consider:

  • Is this an existing group or a group of individuals gathering for the first time?
  • How many, if any, of the participants are considering Civil Disobedience that risks arrest?
  • Do any of the participants have an event or plan of action in mind?
  • What are the commonalities and diversities among the group - age, ethnicity, religious background, political background, etc. which will influence group dynamics? Note: The Declaration of Peace intends to welcome a broad range of participants to the table, including persons who have different political or religious values. Our unifying aim is to end the war and occupation in Iraq. In all areas, we encourage tolerance and respect.
  • What is the specific experience of the trainers relevant to this training?
  • How will this trainer deal with unexpected conflicts or tensions in the group?
  • Can the trainer provide references of persons who s/he has trained?

This is just a beginning list to help us all identify our needs and our strengths as we join together to become a nonviolent network for justice and peace. View the Directory below to find Nonviolence Trainers in your area.
